There are gorgeous lanscapes, mind-bending compositions, places I want to go, sit, even just be a part of the wall and soak in the color. These pieces will be here until the middle-ish of October. There are framed pieces and prints and cards available now. Come on down!

Since my last post we’ve had a couple of great shows- Ian Gingrich-Gaylord shared his watercolor collage work- that was something else- fish and balloons and islands, parachutes and fire and vultures. So nice! Then Kristin Serafini showed her exquisite, vulnerable, excellent, autobiographical paintings in a show called “relent”. It was amazing. She also shared a series based on Wuthering Heights which was truly entrancing… All of her work garnered enthusiastic community response and some fierce loyalty from people attached to single paintings. It been a pretty moving summer of shows to be a part of.

currently, we have Lynn and Lamar Roth “Brothers With Cameras”- sweet, sweet photography! this is some mind-boggling stuff! the reception for them and their work is Friday, September 17 from 6-8pm. come check this out! i’ll post some pictures very soon…

Sasha Chapek

Sasha Chapek’s paintings explore the struggles and celebrations in life,and the concepts of growth and decay using images and iconography inluenced by personal tragedies and triumphs.

Chapek earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from the University of Kansas in 2002, studied printmaking in Florence, Italy, at Santa Repartata International School of Art, and earned her Master of Social Work from
Wichita State University in 2005.

You are invited to attend Cobalt’s Artist Reception on March 18, 2010, 6-8pm.

This year went fast for Cobalt Gallery! We are grateful to the Newton, KS area that we are still here to tell about it! AND… we are already booked with shows through December 2010!

So now that we’re not flying by the seat of our pants every month, this opens up room for fine tuning… What are your thoughts about a gallery/music crawl in Newton? Does the Third Thursday opening schedule work okay with other community schedules? Have any ideas? Let us know!
